Youth Alive
How We Got Started
According to UNFPA, Uganda has a very Youthful Population at 80% between the ages of 10-24 ,80% of these youth live in rural areas,10.9% of youth males are heading households and 8.8 million young people are not engaged in Education, employment or under any training.
After doing some seminars in the rural areas, we saw the need to reach out to the youth through sensitization and empowerment on purposeful living. The youth in these rural areas are engaging in detrimental behavior of idleness, early engagement in sex, too much drinking and fights as a result of ignorance on growth changes .These behaviors have birthed early unwanted pregnancies and marriages, family conflicts in communities and poverty. We believe that with behavioral change, the youth can contribute to the positive transformation of their lives, their families and communities consequently.
Where We Are Now
In our last youth seminar, we had a total of 150 youth and 40 committed their lives to walking with Jesus. In that seminar one youth who was addicted to drinking alcohol committed to God. We also gave another youth some capital to start up a business after teaching them about hard work and saving.
